Lynne was born in Sydney in February 1954 and has 1 sister and 2 brothers. She attended St Therese Catholic primary school and then St Patrick Girls College. When her father, Tom Mills was posted to 22 Const Sqn from Vietnam in 1966, he moved his family to Perth so Lynne finished her schooling at St Mary’s Leederville.
Lynne left school after completing Year 10 and took up an apprenticeship as a ladies hairdresser. After getting her certificate in hairdressing, she left to fulfil her lifelong dream to become a driver. Her first driving job in 1974 was as a delivery driver with Repco Auto Parts. Lynne then became an owner/driver for TNT Couriers and in 1978 she drove for Wards Air Cargo. For a long period of time, she was the only female driver in the company. Lynne retired in 2000.
Lynne met Peter in 1974 and they married in 1976. They have no children.
In retirement, Lynne continues her passion for cars as a member of The Falcon GT & Corvette Car Club, she is an avid Eagles supporter and travels around Australia with Peter who is a competition darts player.
Peter was an employee of Ansett and frequently travelled around Australia and the world on staff discount fares.
Lynne was given life membership of the Association in 2019.
Lynne and Peter currently live in Kingsley.
